My dream came true

The whole reason I am here at RCC is because I have a passion for photography. My main passion is when it comes to sports. Ever since I was really little and I picked up that camera, I always wanted to be a sports photographer. You don't see very many women out on a baseball field or a football field taking pictures so I decided that is what I wanted to do. You go to a game and you see all these photographers with the really nice, white lenses which makes your heart just melt when you see one. Well that dream of mine finally came true, I finally took pictures with a 300 2.8 lens and I have to tell you it was so much better than what I ever could have imagined. For our lab assignment in Small Format, we had to go outside and photograph some of the other students throwing the football around. Although the camera is very expensive and heavy, I cannot wait to be able to spend my afternoons and nights at the ball field photographing all the action with this gorgeous lens. Here is one of the shots that I ended up with. Enjoy!

ABC Typography

During our lab time yesterday we were to go out and shoot all 26 letters of the alphabet making sure not to copy any of the same signs, billboards, etc. For 2 hours, I was driving around the city of Asheboro just trying to find all 26 letters. With the two hours of shooting out of the way, I had to go back to the computer lab and set up a layout using either an 8 x 10 background or a 10 x 8 background. Here is what I ended up with after sitting at the computer for 3 hours. Hope you enjoy!

Self Portrait

This past week, one of our assignments that we had to do during our lab time was post a self-portrait. When you think about a self-portrait, you immediately think about the different poses that you can be doing or even the type of clothes that you want to be wearing. With this assignment, the only thing that I was worried about was making sure everything was in focus and I actually looked alright. This wasn't your typical assignment. Instead, we had to set the thing up completely on our own and take the pictures ourselves. This is a lot easier said then done. Now a days we have our cell phones or we have the little digital cameras that you can hold in one hand and strike a pose with the other. For us photographers...we have our DSLR's to try and use. Thank goodness for timers and tripods, because without them I would not have been able to get this image.

My new blog

Hey guys!
This is my blog that I will be using throughout the next couple semesters just to show you what I am currently working on and what I'm learning throughout my education at Randolph Community College. Hope you enjoy.
